Metadata is documentation of the characteristics of data set or other pieces of information. This documentation (or data) about data is used to support the distribution, retrieval, and use of the information. Metadata are used to describe the content, structure, data elements, and interrelationships. Descriptive metadata describe the content of the resource. Technical and administrative metadata describe processes related to the creation and maintenance of the information. This section of the Digital Projects Web site will include basic guidelines for describing and managing digital resources. It will also include documentation of OSU decisions and provide project examples that can be used in planning a digital project. | |||
