Troubleshooting

  1. Mac #1 and #2 are plotting stations

  2. These are the only Macs linked to the plotter.
  3. For refunds

  4. https://uniprint.osu.edu/printman/refund.asp

Note: The plotter doesn't have a printer ID or number. When you fill out the refund form, just select any printer from the drop down list, but make sure you mention in the description of problem that it is the HP plotter in the lab 220 in Sullivant Library.

  5. Pricing error

  6. After you swipe your BuckID, if the price shows "$15,000" in the job queue, that means "wrong paper size" is chosen. Go back to the program's Print dialog to select a correct size.
  7. Plotter print-head calibration needs to be done approximately every quarter to avoid banding/lines in print

  8. When you see unwanted "bands" in your printout, see staff for help.
  9. Loading sheet paper

  10. See a staff member if you need help.

You can load your own paper if you have a particular type that you want to use, whether there is a roll of paper loaded or not. The labels on the top lid "window" have quick instructions that will help you load the sheet paper correctly.
    1. Measure your sheet paper. Make sure its size is at least the same as your target print size.
    2. Open window
    3. Place bottom edge of the paper onto the plotter, making sure the printing side is facing upward
    4. Align paper edges with the blue dotted lines (both horizontal and vertical) on the plotter
    5. Close window
    6. Select type of paper on panel, then press Enter
    7. When heavy paper types are used (e.g. heavy coated paper), hold the end of the paper when feeding so it doesn't slip. Otherwise the plotter will show the warning message "paper is mispositioned" and ask you to reload it
    8. If you follow all the above steps correctly, your paper will load and the front panel will show that it is "ready" for plotting

*Note: Plotting charges will be the same as when you plot on the default roll of paper provided.
