The Rare Books and Manuscripts Library

Items below are examples for how to use the coding:

To see an outside link check out: http://library.osu.edu/sites/rarebooks/

Or, alternatively: Rare Books & Mss

Rebecca's page

Geoff's page

John's page

Lisa's page

To see an internal link we'll try linking to Bruce's page, and Maureen's page

To make the text show up in italics one uses double apostrophes, vs triple apostrophes for bold. So what happens when one uses the "very emphasized text" created with 'quadruple apostrophes?'

Let's play with sections now -

Subsection 1

Subsubsection 1

Lists look like fun. Let's see what happens when we nest numbered lists.

  1. list item one
    1. sublist item one
    2. sublist item two
    3. sublist item three
  2. list item two
  3. list item three
  1. back to list item four? No, it doesn't seem to want to nest different types of lists.

Alternative method for nesting?

  1. list item one
    1. sublist item one
    2. sublist item two
    3. sublist item three
  2. list item two
  3. list item three
  1. back to list item four?

Subsubsection 2 Let's try indentations. In lieu of tabs, use a colon:

indent one tab
indent two tabs

Subsubsection 3 How about making a table?

Caption for Table Goes Here
column 1column 2column 3 column 4
top cell in col 1top cell col 2 aligned to righttop cell col 3top cell col 4
2nd-1 2nd-22nd-32nd-4
3rd-1 3rd-23rd-33rd-4

Subsection 2

Let's try to insert an image here...

FoxeEarliestSnippet.jpg

Take a look at this later: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Alternative_text_for_images

Using the button on the toolbar above to insert your signature and date/time stamp inserts the user name you selected for yourself:

--Rbmswebmaster 09:33, 5 December 2006 (EST)

(Note that a space is required between lines in order to get the next line to move down.)

If I press the spacebar five times, this will happen.

Subsection 3

Good news! Some HTML tags are valid. See this page: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:HTML_in_wikitext

The blockquote tag is one that is permitted, so how does this look if I put it within the blockquote tags? Will it be set off from the rest of the text as it should be?

What about centered text? and font color?
